BASALT

Basalt is fine grained igneous rock (Volcanic – formed from molten materials). It is very hard rock which is durable and a natural product. With its rounded shape it creates a soft look to the eye. Basalt is ideal for boulder walls, rockeries and garden edging. The surface rock is normally black in colour with lichen and patches of moss. The sub-surface rock is terracotta to light cream in colour. Basalt is well suited to wet areas.
